We'd recommend measuring your room before purchasing and accounting for that full cue clearance on all sides.

Slate thickness directly affects how level and consistent the playing surface remains over time. Thicker slate — such as 45mm Italian slate — holds its flatness better and provides the kind of true roll you'd expect from a quality table. Thinner or non-slate surfaces can warp with temperature and humidity changes, which affects play over the long run.

Brush the felt regularly with a dedicated table brush, always working in one direction to avoid pilling the cloth. Keep drinks and food away from the surface, and cover the table when it's not in use to protect against dust and sunlight fading. With proper care, quality worsted cloth can hold its condition for many years of regular play.
